Education

Ryan Fireprotection knows the challenges facing educational institutions when it comes to fire safety, and we carefully consider your students, faculty, and facilities when we assess fire code compliance and install your fire protection systems.

Protecting Students Year-Round

Between 2009-2013, U.S. fire departments responded to an average of over 3,500 educational property fires annually. Ryan Fireprotection takes school fire and life safety seriously, and has years of experience in schools, universities and across campuses. Fire alarms and panels, smoke detectors, extinguishers, sprinklers, emergency and exit lighting, and kitchen hoods all need to be inspected and/or tested prior to students returning for each school year. Ryan Fireprotection has a team of experts you can count on to protect students while they are in an educational environment.

University of Notre Dame, Campus Crossroads

South Bend, IN

Ryan Fireprotection installed over 6,000 sprinkler heads, 20 wet and dry systems, and two pre-action systems across 19 floors of new construction in two separate wings of this significant project. Our team also installed over 500 heads for the specialty nitrogen dry systems in a lower level parking garage.

Purdue University, Honors College

West Lafayette, IN

Construction of the Honors College required the installation of a wet system with over 3,200 sprinkler heads. Space above the ceiling was extremely limited, which required our team to carefully plan and route all mechanicals with expert efficiency. We even performed a nitrogen inerting process to remove oxygen from the water and prevent corrosion.

University of Louisville, Student Center Expansion

Louisville, KY

The challenge with installing a wet system of 500 sprinkler heads over 300,000 square feet of new and renovated space is not just in the scale of the project. When it happens on a campus like University of Louisville, there are significant logistics to coordinate. Our team planned the installation with 3D design software and ensured the highest safety standards during the process.

Valparaiso High School

Valparaiso, IN

Ryan Fireprotection installed 3,600 sprinkler heads to secure over 10,000 square feet of previously unprotected space, including classrooms, laboratories, administration offices, a cafeteria, and a gymnasium. We could not begin work or even plan our design until demolition of the old structure was complete, and everything had to be coordinated to not disrupt the classes in session.

Purdue University, Cary Quadrangle

West Lafayette, IN

Now a five-building complex, Cary Quadrangle is Purdue University’s oldest and largest residence hall. Built from 1928 to 1939, the buildings underwent a six-phase renovation to improve livability, add modern conveniences, and maintain code compliance. Having worked on multiple construction projects at Purdue, we expanded our relationship with the institution and installed all the wet sprinkler systems as part of this large renovation project.

Valparaiso University

Valparaiso, IN

When Valparaiso University expanded their science department by adding a new building, they discovered a challenge that Ryan Fireprotection was uniquely able to solve: replacing the antiquated high-voltage alarm system with a new one while the original system still in use. We managed this with skill and precision so that students and faculty could continue their scientific pursuits continue uninterrupted.

The Orchard School

Indianapolis, IN

The Orchard School turned to Ryan Fireprotection to install a highly specialized fire alarm and detection system that features voice evacuation; instead of loud horns and sirens, the students and faculty are guided to safety with clear vocal instructions. The system features a manual override that allows staff to modify the message in the event of a tornado or other catastrophe.
